Though I've always loved creating, painting has been a second-half-of-life discovery. It began as an inner-revolt against the constant need for words. It became an entirely new way of seeing and experiencing the world. I'm now delighted to get to share that vision with others through my work.
My art is an attempt at connection--to myself and to the world around me. My subjects often reflect what I am drawn to at any particular moment, which is why many center on issues of justice and the heart. I am increasingly drawn to the raw emotion and play available in abstraction.
I'm not saying I'm the Michael Jordan of painters, but like Mr. Jordan, I do tend to stick my tongue out when I'm concentrating (see photo).
I'm excited to announce I've recently moved to a new studio space in Falls Church, Virginia! I hope you'll come visit the Studios@307 to see my work in person.

I find inspiration EVERYWHERE--that's the gift of engaging with art--it changes the way you see and interact with the world.
Play. Risk. Fail. Bang head in frustration. Walk away. Come back. Repeat. Ruin all my clothes falls somewhere in there, too.
I'm currently delving into linocut and printing for collage in both my representational and abstract work. I've also got a few commissions in the hopper!
